Non solo il complesso monumentale del Duomo normanno, Monreale scopre chiese straordinarie, collegi e conventi, palazzi, archivi e antichi seminari. Dieci luoghi da visitare e tre passeggiate in quattro weekend.
La lotta era impari: Palermo altera guardava in su ma scopriva sempre Monreale come una spina nel fianco: perché bastava alzare la testa da Porta Reale e si intravedeva il disegno delle absidi del Duomo normanno che racchiudevano il segreto dorato del Pantocratore. Monreale è raccolta attorno al suo complesso abbaziale, così la volle re Guglielmo il Buono. Tanto ricco era all’esterno il duomo del capoluogo, altrettanto lo sarebbe stato all’interno quello di Monreale. Ma per scoprire la vera cittadina bisogna fare un atto di forza e lasciarsi alle spalle il Duomo: per trovare un borgo intatto, che si sviluppa in verticale, i quartieri sono un dedalo di viuzze e chiese – la Diocesi di Monreale è la più estesa dell’Isola -, nobili palazzi e cortili fioriti. Tutti da scoprire, in assoluta sicurezza, con le visite delle Vie dei Tesori che arriva a Monreale per la prima volta, da sabato prossimo (10 ottobre) all’1 novembre, quattro weekend per “rinascere nella bellezza”.
Tutto parte dalla convinzione che i tesori delle città sono un patrimonio condiviso, e che è ancor più nei momenti di crisi che da qui bisogna ripartire come luoghi di riconoscimento della comunità, di rinascita collettiva. Chiese, palazzi, fontane, ex conventi, archivi sono infrastrutture culturali intorno alle quali stringersi, nella consapevolezza che in questo tempo incerto bisogna ancor di più celebrare questo rito sociale, seppure senza bagni di folla e nel necessario rispetto delle misure di prevenzione dell’epidemia.
Per questo debutto a Monreale lo staff del festival ha lavorato con cura ad un programma adeguato ai tempi: dieci siti e tre passeggiate d’autore, per quattro weekend, sempre sabato e domenica; i coupon sono validi anche per Palermo e si possono usare anche quelli già acquistati per Bagheria. Per questa edizione il festival può contare sul mainsponsor UniCredit e, a Monreale, sul sostegno del Comune e sull’aiuto logistico della Pro Loco. Oggi nel corso della conferenza stampa di presentazione sono
intervenuti il sindaco Alberto Arcidiacono , l’assessore ai beni culturali e Unesco Ignazio Davì , il presidente del Festival “La Via dei Tesori” Laura Anello, il parroco della Cattedrale Nicola Gaglio , il delegato vicario dell’Ordine Costantiniano di San Giorgio Antonio Di Janni.
“‘Rinasci nella Bellezza’ – ha dichiarato il sindaco Arcidiacono- indica già la volontà della nostra amministrazione , che guarda la città , i nostri concittadini , il nostro tessuto sociale , che deve prima richiedere un processo di innamoramento per poterla raccontare . Abbiamo voluto fortemente lavorare per portare Monreale all’interno del Festival ‘La Via dei Tesori’ e siano felici di essere entrati in questa iniziativa . Con tutte le precauzioni che il mondo impone “.
“É stato un anno difficile ma la nostra caparbietà ci ha premiato – ha aggiunto l’assessore Davì – con grande felicità siamo entrati in questo format e ne siamo orgogliosi .Abbiamo iniziato con 10 siti e tre passeggiate ma il nostro progetto è molto più ambizioso e prevede l’inserimento di altri siti per una città d’arte di alto livello. Al termine Chiara e Sara Grimaudo che hanno collaborato alla Via dei Tesori si sono esibite con un pezzo musicale di loro composizione al pianoforte .
Il festival 2020 coinvolge 15 città in tutta la Sicilia: la prima tranche ha già messo insieme 24 mila visitatori tra Bagheria (la più amata, con circa 6 mila presenze), Caltanissetta, Trapani, Marsala, Mazara del Vallo, Messina, Sambuca e Naro. In questa seconda tornata, hanno già aperto le porte da una settimana, Palermo, Catania, Sciacca, Ragusa, Scicli e Noto. Ovunque, un pubblico attento, disciplinato, ma con una grandissima voglia di scoprire, ascoltare, visitare. Si tratta soprattutto di siciliani e di italiani: le Vie dei Tesori, che l’anno scorso ha avuto il 40 per cento di presenze turistiche con una ricaduta sul territorio di circa 5 milioni di euro [dati OTIE], quest’anno è dedicato soprattutto al cosiddetto turismo di prossimità. Tutto in piena sicurezza: il festival che per primo nell’Isola ha spinto verso modalità 4.0, oggi insiste e rilancia; prenotazione ovunque caldamente consigliata, presidi di sicurezza, distanziamento, acquisto dei coupon on line. La manifestazione, che non gode di risorse pubbliche garantite, ma di quelle che anno dopo anno intercetta partecipando a bandi di evidenza pubblica, anche per questa edizione è rientrata nella graduatoria degli eventi cofinanziati dall’assessorato regionale al Turismo, nelle Idp (Iniziative direttamente promosse) dell’assessorato regionale ai Beni culturali, di un supporto ai costi di allestimento da parte del Fondo sociale europeo gestito dall’assessorato regionale all’Istruzione.

MONREALE, NON SOLO DUOMO. Ed eccoci ai siti, scelti con il supporto del Comune: partendo proprio di fronte al Duomo, dagli stucchi serpottiani della chiesa degli Agonizzanti, scelta per la presentazione, che si abbarbica ad una delle torri del sistema difensivo originario normanno; per poi scoprire la storia delle pie donne della Madonna dell’Orto, che scelsero di condurre una vita semi claustrale riunendosi in una comunità e trasformando le case attorno alla chiesa, nelle celle di un convento open air. Ma non bisogna dimenticare di farsi (virtualmente) bisbigliare la ricetta dei biscotti dalle suore di San Castrenze, magari dopo aver scoperto la “madonna degli angeli” di Pietro Novelli che è proprio sopra l’altare. Il Collegio di Maria nacque per ospitare le povere fanciulle senza mezzi, oggi alzando lo sguardo verso la cupola della Santissima Trinità, si notano le grate della clausura; oppure ci si può sedere e ascoltare la storia lunga sei secoli del santuario del SS. Crocifisso alla Collegiata e la leggenda dell’apparizione della Madonna Addolorata a fra’ Mariano al Calvario delle Croci. Dall’ex Ospedale pubblico cinquecentesco, affidato alle Dame di carità, si passa alle ventidue stanze e alla vista mozzafiato di Palazzo Cutò, affacciato sulla Conca d’Oro, ma ci si deve fermare al passaggio a palazzo di Città dove è da non perdere la cinquecentesca Madonna con bambino in terracotta del Gagini: al prospetto lavorò Giovan Battista Basile. Ultima sosta, ma è una vera scoperta: la biblioteca De Torres del seminario arcivescovile, per ripercorrere gli anni sotto la guida dell’arcivescovo Francesco Testa in cui Monreale era uno dei centri di studio della metafisica e delle lingue antiche, più rinomati del Mediterraneo. Con l’aiuto della ProLoco sono state ideate tre passeggiate, tre percorso inediti anche per gli stessi monrealesi: si potrà seguire il corso del fiume Sant’Elia, tra mulini, antichi lavatoi e le “nache”, le piscine naturali dove si poteva fare il bagno; oppure scoprire che il quartiere della Ciambra deriva il suo nome dal francese, “chambre” e indicava gli alloggi degli addetti al servizio del sovrano; o infine accorgersi che Monreale è il borgo delle fontane, ne possedeva diverse, ne sono rimaste poche superstiti, in questa passeggiata se ne visiteranno cinque.

Un coupon da 18 euro è valido per 10 visite, da 10 euro per 4 visite e da 3 euro è valido per un singolo ingresso. Per le passeggiate è previsto un coupon da 6 euro. Per le esperienze, i coupon sono di valore variabile. Quest’anno, a causa delle misure di prevenzione dal Covid, i turni di visita saranno contingentati.
