Fare tornare i nostri figli a scuola o meglio la didattica a distanza? E’ il rovello che in questi giorni tormenta studenti, genitori, insegnanti e governo. L’assenza dalle aule scolastiche dura ormai da troppo tempo. I ragazzi cominciano a manifestare, chi più chi meno, una grande insofferenza di fronte ad una imposizione che li costringe a restare chiusi a casa, davanti ad un computer per seguire lezioni che spesso diventano noiose. E si badi bene, non è una critica ai professori.
Non so ai tempi della seconda guerra mondiale, ma ricordo che dopo il terremoto del 1968, che sconvolse la Valle del Belice, per circa un mese le scuole della Sicilia occidentale rimasero chiuse. I primi giorni di vacanza forzata furono accolti con una certa allegria, ma dopo la prima settimana cominciammo ad avvertire un certo disagio. Non c’era più il suono della campanella che, alle 8.30 in punto, ci diceva che era arrivata l’ora di entrare in classe. Ci mancava il contatto con i professori, soprattutto non c’erano i compiti da fare, le interrogazioni, i compiti in classe. Vero è che qualche volta si arrivava in classe senza avere studiato il giorno precedente, confidando nella buona stella per evitare di essere interrogati. A scuola cresceva e si cementava l’amicizia tra noi studenti. Per carità, ogni tanto si marinava, specialmente all’inizio della primavera. Non andare a scuola dava anche un certo brivido, perché c’era sempre il rischio di essere scoperti dai genitori.
Erano anni in cui neanche si immaginava che un giorno ci sarebbe stata la Dad, le video conferenze, la posta elettronica, i computer e gli esami di Stato senza compiti scritti.
Frequentare i compagni di scuola, professori, presidi e bidelli è essenziale per la formazione dei ragazzi. Ma bisogna anche comprendere quei genitori che sono letteralmente spaventati a causa del numero dei contagi che in Sicilia rimane molto alto. La maggior parte dei liceali però va a scuola in motore o in auto; gli studenti delle elementari e delle medie sono accompagnati dai genitori, quindi, il rischio di contagio dovrebbe essere minimo. Certo, ci sono anche i ragazzi che raggiungono la scuola con i mezzi pubblici, ma per loro, secondo le ultime indicazioni, dovrebbero essere messi a disposizione autobus appositamente noleggiati. Nelle classi sono garantite le distanze, almeno così dicono i professori.
Il ritorno a scuola, dunque, anche se con cautela, potrebbe presto diventare realtà. E non solo perché i nostri figli andando a scuola studiano di più, ma perché cresceranno meglio.
